Pho Tai $8.00

This miserable and cold weather just calls for pho. Pho is a popular Vietnamese beef noodle soup. And when I’m in the mood for pho, the one place that I head to is Pho Bac Hai Duong in Marrickville

I rave about this place so much, and I think that it’s even better than the pho in Vietnam. Seriously. I’ve converted many people with some (i.e. Logamotion) even saying that they would travel from Canberra to Marrickville just for this bowl of pho! Haha.

Pho Tai $8.00

I normally order the pho tai, which is beef noodle soup with thick rice noodles in a beef broth with medium/rare beef strips. It is so incredibly flavoursome, and it doesn’t taste heavy or oily. They have many other varieties of pho available. And you don’t have to get beef, they also have chicken. You can add beef balls, tripe, tendons, and pretty much whatever floats your boat!

The restaurant also serves a wide range of your regular Vietnamese fare including many rice and noodle dishes – I’ve tried some, and they’re all pretty good. But the main attraction for me is the pho. Can you tell that I’m kind of in love with this place? And who can say no to an $8.00 meal?!

Overall:

When I’m in the mood for a bowl of pho, I know just the place to satisfy my craving. Don’t expect much in terms of the service or cheesy decor, but you can’t complain when the you’re getting major bang for your buck. A steaming bowl of pho is sure to brighten anyone’s mood in these chilly winter months.

I love cheap eats. I haven’t tried pho. I’ve not really eaten much Vietnamese in my lifetime. I might have to try this place seeing as you’ve given it such great reviews

I’m a fan of this place too. The soup is very tasty – although I find it gets a bit sweet towards the end. I can’t can’t tell if that’s the way it should be and I’m used to bastardised Aussie versions or whether my palate can’t handle sweet things..

  11. You can’t beat pho in winter. I always order pho dac biet and hope I score lots of luscious tendons. I tend to drown my bowl with herbage too. Lol.

  12. Darn right it is the best pho in sydney, and my daughter gives the thumbs up to the chow mein with the crispy noodles.
