After dinner one night with Little J, we were thinking about where to head for dessert and then her eyes lit up as she started telling me about her new favourite chocolate place. She gushed about the churros (‘so crispy and soft inside, so good omg’ she cooes). It didn’t take much convincing to get me there!
The Chocolate Bar is located on Bay Street in Brighton Le Sands (not an area that I frequent often) and frightfully cold on this winters night. Brighton Le Sands is home to Brighton Beach, and numerous cafes and restaurants line the main street, but sadly this is the first time I’ve actually been here for food (I remember going fishing with my dad and brother there when I was younger)!
Chocolate Tapas $19.00
The cafe has been open for around 8 weeks and it has the distinct Max Brenner/San Churro/chocolate cafe kind of feel – dark brown interior, smells of chocolate wafting through the air and a menu consisting of all things chocolatey and sweet. Because Little J had raved so much about the churros here, we decided to order the chocolate tapas to share. It consisted of 3 churros, which had a wonderfully crunchy exterior with soft and doughy innards; a chocolate pot, strawberries, marshamallows, brownies and a selection of specialty chocolates.
Overall:
I thought that the churros were great and loved all the chocolate, but I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to chocolate! I think that the churros at San Churro are slightly better (because they’re a bit fatter), but these were still very good. The Chocolate Bar is sure to satisfy all your chocolate cravings!

Mmm Churos in dark chocolate oh so naughty.
haha….I’m like you- easy to please when it comes to chocolate
I’ve never had churros before but these look really yummy….I’ll have to try them one day!
My goodness I love deepfried dough, dipping it into chocolate is one of my fave things next to dusting it with copious amount of icing sugar.
I could really use some chocolate indulgence right now! Looks perfect to me!
yummoooo love the churros at San Churro but these look great tooo! Did I see someone using a fork to eat Churros?!?!? SACRILEGE! Fingers all the way! LOL
Chocolate Bar! Now we’re talking! It’s been ages since I last visited Brighton – churros and chocolate might just be the reason to return!
Churros!! … always reminds me of Disneyland ^^
This looks like a piece of art! Looks like a great place to check it out when I am in that area.
I love how there are more and more places to indulge a chocolate craving, this one looks like a winner!
You had me at chocolate… That chocolate pot looks so wonderful
Rarely ever visit Brighton, never think there’s anything there worth going to but will keep this in mind for whenever we feel like a randon drive to Brighton =D
Never heard of this place until now, so thank you for sharing!
Looks like a nice treat on a cold winter’s night, but like you, I think I prefer my churros a little fatter as well
I’m a sucker for a churro and a chocolate dipping sauce, i found when making them though i prefer them slightly fatter so they have a crispy exterior and a softer interior. They still look great though!
Hi John: A delicious place indeed!
Hi Mark: So naughty, but so good
Hi Von: Hehe cool! Woah, you’ve never had churros!?! You must try them soon, they’re kind of awesome, especially when they’re cooked right and dipped in chocolate
Hi Amy: Nothing beats chocolate and deep fried dough
Hi Maria: Perfect to cure all ailments!
Hi Billy: Lol!! Yeah, we started being ladylike and using forks, but then proceeded to use our fingers. Don’t hate girlfrenn! Lol
Hi Helen: That was the first time I’d been to Brighton in ages! Definitely a reason for me to return too
Hi Rhonda: Haha, they remind me of movieworld (on the gold coast), I remember my first ever churros there!
Hi Ellie: Definitely worth checking out when in the area!
Hi Moya: Yep, the more chocolate places, the better!
Hi Phuoc: haha… wonderful indeed!
Hi Angie: Definitely something to keep in mind
Hi Ladybird: You’re welcome! Gotta love the fat churros!
Hi Callum: Who doesn’t love churros and chocolate?! I’m totally with you on the fat churros with the crispy outside and soft spongy innards!
What a great find Betty! I need to go South one day and this sounds like a great place to have afternoon tea or dessert
I havent been to this neck of the woods forever, but what a great find huh. Chocolate…, I’m there.
I have just come back from the chocolate bar, the service was shocking it took 45mins for them to get my order right and not even an apology
Hi Lorraine: Yep, definitely good for a choccie fix if you’re in the area
Hi Anna: haha I feel the same way about chocolate!!
Hi Kate: I’m sorry to hear you had such a bad experience
I hope the chocolate at least made up for it?!
Hi Betty, unfortunately i rate the food 3 out of 10, the chocolate was cold , and the churos were over cooked . To top it off my coffee was served 20mins after the desert finally arived. Anyone no of any other dessert cafes ?
Tell me about it. This place is horrible. The last time I went I ordered a hot chocolate and got a long black coffie. When I told them I did not order it they tried to charge me for both drinks. I ended up with a cold chocolate not hot chocolate.
Hey there guys, well the recomendations that i got to the chocolate bar were a joke. I went there with my girlfriend on Friday night and was taken back by the forwardness of the waitress, she was overly friendly and complimented my girlfriends breasts!!!! Is this crazy or what? I rate the food 6 /10
Hi Kate: Oh so sorry to hear that
San Churro in Glebe is normally quite good, or there’s always Max Brenner
Hi Rachelle: Oh wow! Sorry to hear about your bad experience. It sounds like a lot of miscommunication to me.
Hi Alvin: I think that is really inappropriate behaviour from the waitress. I hope it didn’t spoil your night too much

Hey Guys,
First of all, I would like the thank chocolate bar for opening at the local area… so easy to get to. Its so much better that I don’t have to travel so far to satisfy my chocolate cravings!
My boyfriend had the souffle, which is excatly the same as Max Brenner’s…( I wonder if they get it from the same supplier) and i had the hazelnut rocher… that you guys definately have to try.
I think I might have to try the churros next time!!
