Vegetable Kakiage Tempura
It’s been over two months since my last blog post!! Things have been c-ray-zee to say the least! Sometimes life and other things get in the way of blogging, but nothing gets in the way of eating, so I’ve definitely still been feasting it up! Ok, so announcements: 1. It’s my blog’s 2nd birthday today!! WOOT WOOT! and 2. I got engaged! I’m in the midst of wedding planning at the moment and it’s a mixture of stress and excitement! This partially explains my blogging absence of late. But anyway onto the food, I thought it was fitting to do this blog post on Menya Mappen as my first ever blog post was also a Japanese restaurant!
Ontama Bukkake Udon $3.90 (small)
If you haven’t already checked it out, Menya Mappen, is a self serve noodle bar in the city. You choose the style of noodle you want and then you collect your dish, add in any tempura extras you want and then pay at the counter. Very simple. I chose the Ontama Bukkake Udon (because of the egg!), the soup was thick and sweet and the udon noodles were slippery, chewy and delicious!

The other girls ordered the Kake Udon which was definitely enjoyed, but I couldn’t remember much after Steph announced her engagement to us!! Too much excitement to take in! Yay! Congrats again Steph & A

Overall:
A quick and cheap meal when you’re in the city. I definitely would love to try more of the menu and I can predict very long queues come winter!

I can’t believe I still have not been to this place…it’s on my hit list though and I will get there before the year is out. It seems like fun and I’ve heard good things about the food.
